Epoxy Flooring in The Tribute, The Colony

Lakeside homes, golf cart garages and open interiors call for floors with polish. Notes on what suits this golf community on the lake.

Floors for a Golf and Lake Community

The Tribute is a master-planned golf community in The Colony, set on a peninsula reaching into Lewisville Lake. Its streets wind between two golf courses and the shoreline, and many homes look out on one or the other.

Homes here are larger and newer than in much of the city, and they often come with three-car garages, a separate golf cart bay, or both. Inside, open floor plans, high ceilings and big windows make the most of the light, which is exactly the setting where decorative floors make an impression.

This guide sits under the citywide The Colony guide, which covers the rest of the city's neighborhoods.

Local notes

The Tribute at a Glance

The community's two courses, Old American and Tribute Golf Links, are run together as The Golf Clubs at The Tribute. The city's visitor bureau describes Tribute Golf Links as spreading over hundreds of acres along the shores of Lewisville Lake.

Golf carts are a normal way to get around the neighborhood, so many garages carry a cart along with the cars. The lake adds boats and water gear. Both bring grass clippings, sand and water into the garage, which a textured, sealed floor handles easily.

Homes and Garages in The Tribute

Most homes date from the 2000s onward, so slabs are generally in better shape than in the city's older streets. Even so, newer concrete often has a curing compound or sealer from construction that must be ground off for a coating to bond, and some settling cracks appear in the first decade.

Garages are frequently oversized, with storage walls, workbenches and a cart bay. Coordinating the floor color with cabinetry and the home's exterior is a common request here.

Choosing a Floor in The Tribute

For garages, a full flake system in a refined blend, often warm grays or soft tans, with a UV-stable topcoat suits most homes. Some owners choose a solid or metallic finish for a show-quality garage.

Indoors, metallic floors work beautifully in game rooms, media rooms, wine rooms and home offices on slab. Covered patios and outdoor kitchens can take a UV-stable polyaspartic coating or a sealer, depending on exposure.

Floors That Suit The Tribute

  • Warm flake show garages

Soft tan and gray blends that complement stone and brick exteriors and custom cabinetry.

  • Metallic game and wine rooms

Deep metallic finishes that pick up reflected light from the lake.

  • UV-stable patio coatings

Clear polyaspartic finishes for covered patios and outdoor kitchens.

Lake Weather and Your Floor

Homes on the peninsula feel the lake breeze and the humidity that comes with it, especially in spring. Summer sun reflects off the water and through large windows, which can amber plain epoxy over time.

That is why UV-stable topcoats are recommended for any floor that sees daylight here, and why humidity is checked before topcoats go down in spring.

Planning a Project in The Tribute

Check your HOA's guidelines on contractor hours, parking and where equipment can stand, and share them when you request an estimate.

For interior metallic floors, plan around furniture moves and any trim or baseboard work so the floor can cure undisturbed.

Questions

Epoxy Flooring in The Tribute: Questions

Something we missed? Call (469) 535-7142, open 9–6:30 daily, and ask it directly.

Can a golf cart garage be coated separately?

Yes. A cart bay can be coated on its own or with the main garage, usually in the same flake blend.

Which floor works best for a wine room?

A metallic or solid epoxy floor with a durable topcoat is popular. It is seamless and easy to clean if something spills.

Do newer slabs still need grinding?

Yes. Construction curing compounds and sealers block adhesion, so even young concrete is ground before coating.

Will a lake view fade my floor?

Plain epoxy can amber in strong sunlight. A UV-stable polyaspartic or polyurethane topcoat protects the color.

Do you work with HOA rules in The Tribute?

Yes. Share the guidelines with your estimate request and the schedule will follow them.
