FAQ

Epoxy Flooring Questions, Answered

Straightforward answers, sorted into five topics. Jump to the one you need.

Cost and Estimates

How much does an epoxy floor cost?

Epoxy floor coatings start at a set price per square foot, shown on the home page. The final price depends on size, slab repairs, the system and the number of coats.

Is the estimate really free?

Yes. Every estimate is free, written and itemized, with no obligation.

Why do epoxy quotes vary so much?

Mostly because of preparation and thickness. A low quote may skip grinding, use a thin product or leave out the topcoat.

Do you charge more for crack repair?

Repairs are part of the estimate and depend on the slab. They are listed separately so you can see them.

Garages

What is the best floor for a garage?

For most homes, a full flake system with a UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat. It hides dirt, grips when wet and resists hot tires.

Why do DIY garage kits fail?

They are usually thin coatings over etched or washed concrete. Hot tires grab them and pull them up.

Can I store a boat on a coated floor?

Yes. A thick flake system with a grit-loaded topcoat handles trailers, lake water and sand.

Will my garage floor be slippery?

Flake adds texture, and fine grit in the topcoat adds more traction when it is wet.

Decorative and Specialty Floors

What is a metallic epoxy floor?

A clear epoxy loaded with metallic pigment and worked by hand into veins and ripples over a solid base. Every floor is unique.

What is polyaspartic?

A fast-curing, UV-stable coating, often used as the topcoat over an epoxy base, or as a complete system.

Can epoxy go in a living area?

Yes, on a sound, dry concrete slab. Metallic and solid finishes are popular in game rooms and offices.

Do decorative floors scratch?

Any gloss floor shows fine scratches over time. A hard topcoat, felt pads and dust-mopping keep them minimal.

Timing and Care

How long does the work take?

It depends on the size, repairs and system. Your estimate gives a schedule and return-to-use dates.

When can I walk and park on the floor?

Foot traffic is usually possible the next day; vehicles once the topcoat has fully cured, often several days.

How do I clean an epoxy floor?

A broom or microfiber mop for grit, then warm water with a mild soap. Skip acidic cleaners.

Can an old epoxy floor be refreshed?

Usually. Scuffing the old clear coat and adding a fresh one brings back most of the original gloss.

Concrete Sealing

What is the difference between sealing and coating?

Sealers soak in or leave a thin film; coatings build a thick new surface. Sealers suit outdoor concrete in sun.

How often should a driveway be sealed?

Every few years for penetrating sealers, sooner for film sealers in full sun. When water stops beading, it is time.

Can stamped concrete be sealed?

Yes. A film sealer enhances the color and protects the pattern.
